Prompt of the Week: Test Before You Build

Test Before You Build: Vertical SaaS Market Validator

Most Vertical SaaS founders fall into one of two traps:

  1. Spray-and-pray targeting.

  2. Personal hunch disguised as strategy.

This week's prompt turns ChatGPT into your market validation analyst and your executive whisperer, at the same time. It's built to help you evaluate multiple industry segments for your SaaS product before you spend months building features nobody pays for.

Paste this into ChatGPT and let it score your segments, define go/no-go criteria, and even map integration requirements.

💡 Try this with:

  • “Dental Clinics, Veterinary Clinics, Physical Therapy”

  • Base scores: { "Dental Clinics": 80, "Veterinary Clinics": 72, "Physical Therapy": 60 }

  • Output style: "summary"

🛠 Bonus use case: This is also a killer prompt for investors comparing vertical SaaS deals in the same deck.

App of the Week: Rewind.AI

“What if you could Ctrl+Z your whole day?”

That’s the promise of Rewind AI a memory layer for your digital life. It records everything on your Mac (with local storage and tight privacy controls), allowing you to search anything you’ve seen, said, or heard. Zoom call? Slack message? A PDF you glanced at last Thursday? It’s all there.

I have been trying out Rewind AI for the last few days, and while I can’t say it’s a game changer, it has made a huge difference for me. Think of it like someone standing behind you while you are on your computer, and you can ask them any question, and they can help you.

Did I forget a promise I made to someone on any of my calls? Or what happened to that one file, I think it was a PDF, but it had something to do with my insurance, I definitely accessed it within the last week…

I like it because:

  • It works offline: everything is stored locally and compressed efficiently.

  • You can ask it questions like a personalized AI assistant: “What did Sarah say about the launch date?” or “Show me that analytics chart from Monday’s meeting.”

  • It’s especially valuable for solo operators and founders wearing 12 hats, fewer sticky notes, fewer forgotten links, and a lot more peace of mind.

⚠️ Right now, it’s Mac-only and system-intensive, so check specs before diving in.

“How to” of the Week: Spreadsheet organizer

Let ChatGPT do the analysis for you.

Spreadsheets are full of insight, but only if you know what to look for. With ChatGPT, you can upload a CSV or Excel file and instantly start asking questions like:

  • “What are the top-selling products this quarter?”

  • “Which customers haven’t paid yet?”

  • “Are there any trends in churn by region?”

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open ChatGPT (Pro plan required)

  2. Click the paperclip icon in the message bar to upload your file (CSV or XLSX).

  3. Once it’s uploaded, type a question like:

“What are the most common reasons for refund requests?”

  4. ChatGPT will analyze the file and give you a plain-English answer, often with summaries, tables, or charts.

Bonus tip:

If your spreadsheet is messy, just say:

“Clean this up for me and highlight any duplicate rows or missing values.”

ChatGPT will do basic cleanup and even suggest fixes.

Whether it’s financials, survey responses, or product usage logs, your spreadsheet just got a whole lot smarter.

That’s all for now.
